UQef is a vehicle for benefactors and businesses to commit significant funds to the University.  Since inception to 30 June 2018, UQef has made donations and distributions of approximately $28.8 million to support various University of Queensland programs and scholarships.

On 15th March 2010, the UQef was prescribed private fund status with the Australian Taxation Law and thereby has the status as a Deductible Gift Recipient for Income Tax purposes.  The fund has been endorsed for income tax exemption and allows for individuals and families to obtain tax deductibility for donations.
